Stress

What is Stress

Stress is our bodies way of responding to any kind of demand in life. When dealing with a physical demand, this is great because it allows us to respond with more energy and strength. However when we are dealing with a psychological threat our body reacts with the same stressful hormones, but now there is no outlet for this extra energy, which places undue stress on our body and mind.

These Psychological threats can show up as family stress, work stress, relationship and marriage stress, stress in any area of life. After extended periods of stress, a sufferer can experience one or both of the two other mental health disorders associated with stress; Depression or Anxiety.

Signs and Symptoms

  • Tension in the body
  • Worry
  • Disturbed sleep
  • Headaches

Treatment of Stress

In stress the sufferer has inaccurate beliefs around their life not going to plan. By identifying these beliefs, we can help the client get a better understanding of the true cause of their stress and apply more accurate understandings to life, which will allow them to alleviate their stress. We educate the sufferer, as well as supply them with appropriate tools and techniques, to enable them to manage their stress and emotional concerns better. By doing this we can also reduce the possibility of the sufferer experiencing depression or anxiety.
